Kalispell Flathead Relay Aims to Smash Previous Records

The Kalispell Flathead’s boys 1,600-meter relay team is gearing up for another successful season, aiming to surpass their record-breaking performance from last year. Led by seniors Lane Shivers and Ben Bliven, along with junior Will Hollensteiner, the team is determined to break their state record time of 3:15.92 set in the finals of the state track and field meet. With standout runner Kasen Kastner completing the four-man squad, the team’s chemistry and experience running together give them an edge in achieving their goal.

Despite track being an individual sport, the relay allows for teamwork and camaraderie among the runners. Each member plays a crucial role in ensuring a successful race, with Shivers taking on the responsibility of setting up his teammates for success as the lead runner. Both Shivers and Bliven are determined to end their high school athletic careers on a high note by finishing at the top of the podium and the record book.

The team’s top time so far this season is 3:27.81, but they are confident in their ability to improve and possibly run even faster than last year. The support and motivation they provide each other, along with their shared goal of breaking records, drive them to push themselves to new heights. With the entire squad motivated and united in their pursuit of success, the Kalispell Flathead relay team is poised for another impressive season on the track.
