KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) – Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks celebrated the completion of the Reed Slough Wildlife Viewing Area with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday. Construction on the project began last spring after being approved by the Fish and Wildlife Commission in 2022. The viewing area, protected by conservation easements from two families, offers Montanans expanded public access to observe wildlife in their natural habitat.
Officials highlight that Reed Slough is a valuable site for wildlife viewing and provides educational opportunities for local schools to learn about migratory waterfowl and other animals that rely on the wetlands. The viewing area serves as a platform to raise awareness about conservation efforts and the importance of preserving natural habitats.
The development of the Reed Slough Wildlife Viewing Area reflects Montana’s commitment to conservation and provides residents with a new space to appreciate the state’s diverse wildlife. Visitors are encouraged to explore and learn about the animals that call the wetlands home.
