27 dogs fly to Montana in hopes of finding their forever home

ABILENE, Texas — On Friday morning, 27 dogs were flown from Abilene to Montana by the organization ‘Dog is my CoPilot’ to live with foster families in hopes of finding their forever home. According to Sydney Hallmark, Kennel Tech Manager with Rescue the Animals, Montana has a smaller stray problem compared to Abilene, allowing them to take in more dogs in need. The Abilene shelter currently has around 85 dogs and by sending some to Montana, they can make space for new arrivals without having to euthanize for space. Once the dogs arrive in Montana, they will already have foster homes arranged for them, helping them relax and show their true personalities in a less stressful environment. This initiative is part of a monthly program by the organization and has been done successfully several times before. Flying these dogs to Montana not only helps in easing the stray problem in Abilene but also gives the dogs a better chance at finding a loving home and family.
