The Montana Livestock Loss Board is currently accepting applications for 2025 loss prevention grants to help livestock producers in the state reduce economic impacts from wolves, grizzly bears, and mountain lions. Interested individuals or corporations involved in raising and marketing livestock can apply by May 31, with applications available on the board’s website or by contacting the office directly.
Applicants must have experienced previous livestock depredation and align with acceptable predation prevention practices. Grants cannot exceed 10% of the total value of protected livestock, and applicants must provide a 30% cost share for the project. The program, established in 2007, aims to incentivize producers to take preventative measures and ensure the economic sustainability of Montana’s livestock operators affected by predator attacks.
