Despite the challenges of ranching bison, such as their wild spirit and longer time to mature, the demand for bison meat is on the rise. With unique health benefits and a growing awareness among consumers, bison meat is becoming increasingly popular.
While the bison industry is still relatively small compared to the beef industry, producers believe there is room for significant growth. By selling directly to consumers and cutting out the middleman, ranchers like Stubblefield and Melinda Anakalea of Harlow Ranch Bison Company are optimistic about the future of bison ranching in Montana.
