The No. 12 College of Idaho women’s basketball team fell short in their quest for another upset victory, losing to fourth-seeded Georgetown (Ky.) by a final score of 79-70. Despite a strong fourth-quarter comeback that cut the deficit to as little as six points, the Yotes were unable to complete the improbable turnaround.
After a quick start that saw College of Idaho take an early lead, Georgetown took control of the game and never looked back, leading 40-26 at halftime. The Yotes fought back in the fourth quarter, scoring 30 points on 62.5% shooting, but it was not enough to overcome the Tigers’ lead.
Anna Mooney led College of Idaho with 21 points, while Brooke Beresford contributed 18 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort. With the win, Georgetown advances to the NAIA national site in Sioux City, Iowa, set to begin on March 20th.
Despite the disappointing outcome, the Yotes have shown resilience and determination throughout the tournament, including a thrilling upset win over last season’s national runner-up Providence. While their season may have come to an end, their impressive performances have left a mark on the competition and showcased the team’s potential for future success.
