Long-time Great Falls resident and business owner, Gene Shumaker, passed away peacefully at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, adventure, and generosity. Starting out with just a green dump truck, Gene built a successful career in business, founding Shumaker Trucking & Excavating and other ventures. He was known for his work ethic, expertise in environmental clean-up, and dedication to his community, including support for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Cascade County. Gene was a beloved member of his family, survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and numerous other relatives. A Memorial Service will be held on April 2, 2025, at Croxford Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Cascade County in Gene’s memory. Gene will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, love of family, and dedication to his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
