Over the weekend, a 14-foot jet boat sank on the Kootenai River near Kootenai Falls in Montana, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the incident and learned that the boat had sunk while traveling upriver toward the falls. Despite the boat sinking, everyone on board made it out of the water safely.
Sheriff Darren Short reminded the public about the dangerous currents and severe undertows in the river, especially near Kootenai Falls. He urged people to exercise caution and wear life jackets when swimming, boating, or rafting in the area to ensure their safety.
The cause of the boat sinking remains unknown, and authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. Thankfully, everyone involved in the accident escaped unharmed. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public to be aware of the risks associated with the river and to take necessary precautions when engaging in water activities in the area.
