Helena Capital junior Taylor Lay is on a mission for redemption as she heads into the girls state wrestling tournament as the top-seeded wrestler in her weight class. After becoming Helena’s first-ever girls wrestling state champion in her freshman year, Lay faced a setback with a loss in the state final during her sophomore season. Determined to prove herself and make a comeback, Lay has been working hard to achieve her goal of winning a second state championship.
Coach Shawn Graham praised Lay’s work ethic and competitive spirit, highlighting her dedication to the sport and her continuous improvement on the mat. Lay’s success in wrestling has also helped to inspire other girls to join the wrestling program at Capital High School, with an increase in female participation over the years.
