Man in Memphis claims he was shot by his own dog while in bed

A man in Memphis sustained a gunshot wound when his dog accidentally fired a gun by jumping on a bed. The incident occurred in the Frayser neighborhood just before 4 a.m. on a Monday morning. The man was lying on his bed with a friend when his dog, a pitbull puppy named Oreo, accidentally triggered the gun. The man was grazed in his left thigh and was taken to the hospital in noncritical condition. The man’s friend left the home with the gun after the incident. Shell casings were found on the floor of the front room. Tennessee does not have state laws requiring firearm owners to lock or store their weapons in a certain way, but Memphis police encourage people to keep their guns locked and offer free gun locks at precincts. This incident highlights the importance of gun safety and proper storage to prevent accidents like this from happening.
