Box Elder boys secure back-to-back divisional championships

The Box Elder boys basketball team secured their second consecutive Northern C title with a dominant 80-42 win over Fort Benton in the divisional championship in Great Falls. The Bears, who have been undefeated for two years, displayed their prowess with a 38-point lead at one point in the game. Tracen Jilot led the team with 31 points and six steals, while Tuarie Stiffarm-Rosette contributed 23 points and eight rebounds. The Bears forced 20 turnovers and recorded 14 steals as a team.

The team’s victory earned them the No. 1 seed at the upcoming Class C state tournament in Butte, where they aim to defend their back-to-back basketball titles. Additionally, the Bears recently won the school’s first 6-Man football crown in November, further solidifying their athletic dominance.

On the other hand, Fort Benton’s Kelton Vielleux led his team with 12 points and 11 rebounds, but they fell short in the championship game. The Longhorns will have a chance to earn the No. 2 seed out of the North at the state tournament by facing Chester-Joplin-Inverness in a challenge on Monday.

Overall, the Box Elder Bears continue to impress with their exceptional performances on the court and look poised to make a strong showing at the upcoming state tournament.
