On Thursday night, the Ravalli County Republican Central Committee met unofficially to select three candidates to potentially replace outgoing Rep. Ron Marshall in the legislature. The committee chose Terry Nelson, Michelle Binkley, and Wayne Rusk as potential replacements for Marshall in House District 87. However, the final list of candidates won’t be decided until an official meeting on Friday night. The committee is facing leadership issues, including an ongoing lawsuit against the current chairman, Ronald Stoltz. Ravalli County Commissioners will ultimately select the replacement for the legislature based on the list provided by the central committee. Marshall decided to leave his position following the advancement of a bill that would make many of his products illegal. Committee members are hoping for a unanimous decision in the final list of candidates and are counting on all members to attend the Friday night meeting. This story is ongoing and will be updated.
