Esmeralda Morales, a star guard for the Montana State women’s basketball team, has had an exceptional season after transferring from Portland State last April. Morales made the switch after her assistant coach spotted her name in the transfer portal and convinced her to become a Bobcat. Morales’ basketball journey started in first grade when she transitioned from soccer to basketball, eventually falling in love with the sport. She excelled in high school and received offers from several colleges before choosing to play at Portland State. After three successful seasons at PSU, Morales decided to transfer to MSU, where she has made a significant impact.
With a strong work ethic and an elite basketball IQ, Morales has thrived at MSU, averaging 15.2 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game this season. Her leadership on and off the court has earned her the respect of her teammates and coaches, who praise her ability to make the right play at crucial moments.
Looking ahead, Morales aims to pursue opportunities to play professionally, potentially in the WNBA. Coach Tricia Binford believes that Morales has the talent and skills to succeed at the next level, praising her adaptability and quick learning abilities.
