The death toll from an avalanche in northern India has risen to seven, with survivors recounting their dramatic rescue after being buried under snow and debris for hours. The army recovered three bodies and continued the search for the last missing person. More than 50 workers were trapped when the avalanche hit a construction camp near Mana village in Uttarakhand. Despite the tragic loss of four workers, rescue teams managed to save 50 individuals. One survivor described the experience as a miracle and thanked the rescue teams for their prompt action. The devastating incident once again highlights the dangers of working in the Himalayan region, with avalanches and landslides being common occurrences. Climate change and rapid development in the area have increased the risk of such events. In 2021, nearly 100 people died in Uttarakhand due to flash floods caused by a glacier collapse, underscoring the need for improved safety measures in the region.
