INVISTA Unveils $13M Technology Center in Katy, Texas, Fostering High-Tech Employment and Innovation


INVISTA, a subsidiary of Koch, has opened a new $13 million research center in Katy, Texas. The Texas Technology Center will focus on developing new materials and improving manufacturing processes in the Nylon and Propylene business. With over 50 researchers and engineers working at the 40,000-square-foot facility, the center aims to support industries such as automotive, medical equipment, airbags, food packaging, and clothing.

Jerry Grunewald, who leads research and development for the company, stated that the center will serve as a hub for innovative projects and partnerships to keep them on the cutting edge of the industry. The center will focus on creating better versions of chemicals used in everyday products like clothing, carpets, and plastic items by using advanced equipment to test and develop new materials.

With the opening of the Texas Technology Center, Katy becomes part of INVISTA’s global innovation network. This is the company’s fourth research center, with others located in Shanghai, China; Ontario, Canada; and Longview, Texas. INVISTA CEO, Brook Vickery, expressed his excitement at the capabilities of the new center and believes it will accelerate the teams’ contributions to advancing the business.

The center has been operational since last August and was officially opened with a ceremony that was attended by company executives. With the Texas Technology Center in Katy, INVISTA aims to drive innovation and keep pace with the evolving needs of various industries.
