Rod Tweet, chosen for induction into the NHSACA Hall of Fame, hails from Geraldine

Rod Tweet, a longtime coach from Fort Shaw, has been selected for induction into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association hall of fame. The Montana Coaches Association made the announcement on Friday, recognizing Tweet’s impressive career spanning over four decades.

Tweet’s coaching career began in 1978 at Brady, where he quickly established himself as a successful coach in football and track. He later spent the majority of his career at Geraldine, winning multiple state championships in 6-Man football and earning accolades such as Montana Coach of the Year and NHSACA national coach of the year for football in 2019.

Known as one of the pioneers of 6-Man football in Montana, Tweet’s teams achieved remarkable success on the field, winning a total of six state titles and numerous conference championships. In track and field, he guided his athletes to victory with six district titles and one divisional championship.

Tweet’s dedication to coaching and his impact on the community have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by his induction into the Montana Coaches Association hall of fame in 2009. Now, he will add another prestigious honor to his resume when he is officially inducted into the NHSACA hall of fame at the organization’s annual banquet in Rapid City, South Dakota on June 24.

For those who have had the privilege of working with Tweet or witnessing his coaching prowess, this recognition is a well-deserved tribute to his legacy of excellence in high school athletics.
