Bruins upset Helena High in crosstown showdown

The Helena Capital Bruins (7-6, 6-2) pulled off a stunning upset against the No. 1 ranked Helena High Bengals (9-3, 5-2) with a 57-53 victory. Brenton Belzer and Landon Levang led the charge for the Bruins, combining for 31 points. The Bruins ended a five-game losing streak to their crosstown rivals and took over sole possession of first place in the Western AA.

In other Class AA action, No. 3 Billings Skyview narrowly defeated Bozeman 57-55, led by Kash Embry’s 22-point performance. Billings Senior dominated Great Falls 61-38 behind Zy Zilkoski’s 22 points.

In Class A, No. 5 Billings Central cruised past Laurel 64-36, while Hardin routed Livingston 82-48 with Vance Takes Enemy Jr. scoring 27 points. Browning secured a 65-47 victory over Polson.

In the Class B matchup, No. 8 Malta outclassed No. 6 Glasgow 84-63 with Stockton Oxarart leading the way with 24 points. Missoula Loyola, the top-ranked team in Class B, defeated Anaconda 95-36, with Ethan Stack and Rey Johnston scoring 21 points each.

On the girls’ side, No. 2 Billings West trounced Great Falls CMR 68-28 behind Reagan Soucy’s 17 points. Bigfork dominated Columbia Falls 75-49, led by Braeden Gunlock’s 36-point performance.
