Utah emerges victorious at Montana State Invitational


The Utah Ski Team emerged victorious in the Montana State Invitational, securing a win in the slalom event on the final day of competition. Kaila Lafreniere and Johs Braathen Herland led the team with strong finishes, contributing to Utah’s total of 713 points, beating out Colorado and Denver by 96 and 109 points respectively. Lafreniere placed fifth in the women’s race, while Herland finished sixth in the men’s race. Other notable finishes for the team included Kaja Norbye in seventh and Evelina Fredricsson in 15th for the women, and Wilhelm Normannseth and Simen Strand in 15th and 17th for the men. The team now prepares for the Utah Invitational this weekend at the Spencer F. Eccles Olympic Mountain Center, with a giant slalom race on Friday and Saturday, followed by a slalom race on Sunday. Fans can attend for free starting at 9 a.m. each day. The Utah Nordic team will also compete in the Denver Invitational on February 8.
