Where could Helena thrive? – Montana Free Press

The city of Helena and Lewis and Clark County have initiated a study with Great West Engineering to identify areas for potential city growth. The study will assess county land adjacent to Helena to determine its potential for infrastructure development. The project engineers have divided the urban standards boundary into five regions and are collecting data to determine future water storage options and sewer systems. While public feedback has been positive, questions remain about funding sources and the timeline for the study.

Additionally, the Healthy Together Steering Committee of the Lewis and Clark Public Health Department will hold public meetings to address community health concerns. In other news, new ramps compliant with the ADA will be installed at local schools, and the city’s sidewalk improvement program is set to benefit 30 properties. A discussion about train blockages, the opening of a new grant cycle, and the 2025 Point in Time survey of homeless populations are also highlighted in Helena’s news. Lastly, the Montana Department of Transportation installed new illuminated crossing signs to improve pedestrian safety after a recent accident.
