Montana Tech women overpower UM Western to break losing streak

The Montana Tech women’s basketball team secured a crucial victory against in-state rival Montana Western, ending a two-game losing streak with a score of 83-67. The game was evenly matched in the first quarter until a buzzer-beater from Halle Haber gave Tech the lead. Utilizing their depth, defense, and rebounding skills, Tech dominated the game with contributions from ten different players, led by Liv Wangerin with 20 points. Hadley Humphries, Kia Wasson, and Haber also made significant scoring contributions. Despite a strong effort from Montana Western’s Payton Hagy and Kenzi Pedersen, Tech capitalized on turnovers and outrebounded their opponents to seal the victory. Montana Tech now boasts a 14-8 overall record and 5-4 conference record, and will face No. 25 Providence in their upcoming road games. On the other hand, Montana Western’s 7-14 overall record and 2-7 conference record leaves them in need of a win as they take on No. 20 Rocky Mountain next.
