Fourth American prisoner-hostage exchange

Today, 183 Palestinian prisoners and detainees are expected to be released by Hamas in exchange for three Israeli hostages. The prisoners include those with life sentences and high sentences, as well as those from the Gaza Strip arrested after the Oct. 7 attacks. Two hostages, Ofer Kalderon and Yarden Bibas, have already been handed over in Khan Younis, with the fate of Bibas’ wife and two young sons still unknown. Hamas militants are awaiting the Red Cross at Gaza Port to handover the third hostage, American Keith Siegel. Kalderon and Bibas have arrived in southern Israel, where they will be reunited with their families. The Red Cross confirmed the orderly handover of the two hostages in Khan Younis, contrasting with the chaotic handover that occurred previously. The Israeli military confirmed the handover and stated they are prepared to receive additional hostages in the near future. American Israeli Keith Siegel is among the hostages being released, along with Yarden Bibas and Ofer Kalderon. The hostage-prisoner exchange is underway in Gaza, marking the fourth exchange between Hamas and Israel since the Oct. 7, 2023 attack where Siegel was kidnapped.
