Week 1 Rankings for Montana High School Football – 406 MT Sports

The first week of the Montana high school football season kicked off with some surprising results. Only two of last season’s state champions secured victories, with Florence-Carlton and Centerville suffering defeats. Bozeman and Fairview continued their winning streaks, while new faces in the lineup had a strong showing for Gallatin. The upcoming matches include a Class AA Game of the Week between Bozeman and Butte, promising an intense showdown.

In Class A, top contenders like Corvallis, Billings Central, and Laurel all secured wins by wide margins in Week 1. Frenchtown and Havre showcased their potential as well. The highlight of the upcoming week is a quarterfinal rematch between Laurel and Lewistown.

Class B saw Jefferson upsetting three-time winner Florence-Carlton, while Manhattan made a statement with a dominant win over Huntley Project. Red Lodge, Eureka, Malta, and Glasgow are teams to watch. The Northern Division matchup between Malta and Red Lodge is the Game of the Week in Class B.

In the 8-Man division, defending champions Fairview started strong with a win over Poplar, while Denton-Geyser-Stanford-Geraldine and Circle also had impressive victories. The upcoming game between Ennis and Lone Peak will be a key matchup in the division.

In 6-Man, Chester-Joplin-Inverness stunned Centerville last week, showcasing their contender status. Denton-Geyser-Stanford-Geraldine and Custer-Hysham-Melstone also secured wins. This week, the game to watch is between Centerville and Hot Springs as both teams look to bounce back from Week 1 losses.
