In an epic eight-overtime battle, the No. 6 Georgia Bulldogs pulled off a miraculous comeback to defeat Georgia Tech 44-42. The Bulldogs, who trailed 17-0 at halftime, scored two touchdowns in the final minutes of regulation to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive. Freshman Nate Frazier ran for a 2-point conversion in the eighth overtime to secure the win.
Quarterback Carson Beck threw five touchdown passes, two of them in overtime, as the Bulldogs fought back from a late deficit. Georgia Tech, led by Haynes King who had three rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns, couldn’t hold off the Bulldogs in the marathon matchup.
The game was the longest in SEC history and just one overtime short of the FBS record. Both teams matched each other with touchdown passes and extra points in the overtime periods. The game ended when Frazier ran in the 2-point conversion in the eighth overtime to give Georgia the victory.
