The annual Thanksgiving tradition of the Polson 5K Turkey Trot took place in Polson, Montana, with hundreds of runners coming together to support the Polson Food Bank. Organized by Lauren Arnold, the event required a five-dollar donation from each runner, with all proceeds going directly to the food bank. Among the participants was Morgan Delaney, a high school sophomore who recently won the state championship in cross country. Delaney has been participating in the event since she was a child, carrying on a family tradition. She was running in support of her running club, Mission Mountain Mercury, which will be competing in nationals. Delaney credits her father, Jason Delaney, who is also her running coach, for introducing her to the sport and helping her fall in love with it. Arnold expressed plans to add fun surprises to future turkey trots, including the idea of pardoning a turkey before the race. The event was a joyful celebration of Thanksgiving and community support for a good cause.
