Republican Austin Knudsen has been declared as the winner of the race for Attorney General in Montana, defeating Democratic challenger Ben Alke. With 86.1% of votes counted, Knudsen secured the victory. Knudsen, who previously served as the Speaker of the Montana House of Representatives, ran a successful re-election campaign.
Originally from Culbertson, Montana, Knudsen’s political career has been marked by a strong conservative stance on issues such as law enforcement, public safety, and protecting the rights of Montanans. During his time in the state legislature, Knudsen worked on various bills related to criminal justice reform and government accountability.
Challenger Ben Alke, a Helena native and practicing attorney in Bozeman, ran a competitive campaign against Knudsen. Alke, who has worked on cases involving the constitutionality of Montana laws, hoped to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to the position of Attorney General.
While the race was closely watched by residents and political observers alike, Knudsen ultimately prevailed, continuing his tenure as Montana’s Attorney General. As the state’s top law enforcement officer, Knudsen will continue to focus on keeping communities safe, upholding the rule of law, and serving the people of Montana to the best of his abilities.
