Former Boise State football star Matt Miller has transitioned from a record-setting player to a dedicated coach at his alma mater. After spending four years at Montana State as a coach, Miller returned to Boise State in 2020, where he currently serves as the Broncos’ wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator. Working alongside offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, a Boise State legend, Miller continues to hone his coaching skills.
Miller’s coaching journey began at Boise State as an offensive quality control assistant before moving to Montana State, where he eventually became the offensive coordinator. Despite finding success with the Bobcats, Miller felt the need to further his knowledge and returned to Boise State. Now, he is focused on developing the next generation of Boise State receivers and working closely with Koetter to improve the team’s passing game.
As a Montana native, Miller stays connected to his roots and has formed close relationships with fellow coaches from his home state. When Boise State faces Nevada, Miller will face off against former Montana State colleagues, including Nevada head coach Jeff Choate. Miller’s friendship with Choate and other Montana coaches extends beyond the field, emphasizing the importance of camaraderie and support in the coaching profession.
Despite his success at Boise State, Miller remains grounded in his Montana upbringing and values. He takes pride in being a “Montana guy” and carries those values with him in his coaching career. With a dedication to hard work and perseverance instilled in him from his Montana roots, Miller continues to make an impact on and off the field at Boise State.
