Handsome Brook Farms, a New York-based company, is recalling approximately 10,800 units of organic eggs sold under Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand due to potential contamination with salmonella. The affected eggs were sold in 25 Costco stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee with Julian code 327 and a “use by” date of Jan. 6, 2025.
This recall was initiated after it was discovered that eggs not meant for retail were mistakenly packaged and distributed in retail packaging. Handsome Brook Farms is implementing additional supply chain controls and retraining to prevent such incidents in the future. So far, there have been no reports of illness related to the affected eggs.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled organic eggs should stop consuming them and return the product to their local Costco store for a full refund or dispose of them. The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration to ensure the safety of consumers. No other products are affected by this recall.
