CSUN Men’s Basketball suffered an 83-75 defeat at the hands of Montana, breaking their five-game win streak in the final game of the Stew Morrill Classic. Despite a slow start, Marcus Adams Jr. led the team with 17 points, while Keonte Jones contributed a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Both players were named to the All-Tournament Team. CSUN struggled offensively, shooting 29.7% in the first half, while Montana capitalized with a 50-point second half to maintain the lead for the entire period. Despite a late rally, the Matadors fell short as the Grizzlies secured the win.
CSUN now sits with a 5-2 record while Montana improves to 5-3. The Grizzlies claimed the Stew Morrill Classic with a 3-0 record. CSUN shot 38.5% for the night, with Fuller and Lewis also contributing to the scoring. Coach Scott Cutley praised Montana’s defense and highlighted CSUN’s missed opportunities. The Matadors look to bounce back in their upcoming game against Montana State on Saturday.
