Montana State quarterback Tommy Mellott was named the Big Sky Conference offensive player of the year, leading a group of four Bobcats who won individual awards. Mellott threw for 1,956 yards with 22 touchdowns and just one interception, while rushing for 640 yards and 11 scores. Brody Grebe was named the defensive player of the year, Adam Jones claimed freshman of the year, and coach Brent Vigen won coach of the year. The Bobcats finished the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record and the Big Sky title.
Grebe had six quarterback sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss, Jones rushed for 928 yards and nine touchdowns, and Vigen guided the team to the best regular-season finish in school history. Northern Arizona quarterback Ty Pennington was named newcomer of the year. The Bobcats had a total of nine players named to the first-team, while the Montana Grizzlies had two first-team selections. The awards were announced as the league prepares for the upcoming FCS playoffs.
