Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks game wardens are investigating the disturbing discovery of a bull elk and whitetail buck that were shot, had their heads removed, and left to waste in southern Blaine County. The animals were found on private property about 30 miles south of Chinook and likely killed between the evening of November 20 and early on November 21. FWP is urging anyone with information to come forward, with the possibility of a cash reward of up to $1,000 for tips leading to the resolution of the case.
Poaching is a serious issue, and FWP is reminding the public that it includes various illegal activities such as hunting out of season, taking more than the legal limit, and utilizing unethical practices like spotlighting at night. It also extends to nonresidents purchasing resident licenses and professional poachers offering illegal outfitter and guide services. The investigation into the senseless killing of these two majestic animals continues, and FWP is committed to bringing those responsible to justice.
