Billings Workers Prepare for Launch of State’s Second Amazon Distribution Center

Billings Welcomes Second Amazon Distribution Center in Montana

BILLINGS — The city of Billings celebrated the grand opening of its second Amazon distribution center on October 31, a strategic addition that follows the establishment of a similar facility in Missoula earlier this year. Located at 6767 Tun Tavern Road in Billings West End, the new site, designated WMT3, promises to enhance local employment opportunities, particularly as the holiday season approaches.

Site manager Danny Woodruff expressed enthusiasm for the facility’s opening, stating, "It’s very exciting for me." Currently, the center processes approximately 2,500 units daily, with plans to ramp up to 3,500 in the coming weeks. As the holiday season intensifies, the expectation is to handle up to 19,000 packages per day, prompting the need for additional staff.

Initially starting with about 50 employees, the workforce is projected to expand significantly, reaching between 120 to 150 as operations scale. On its opening day, the team successfully delivered around 1,500 packages with the assistance of 20 drivers.

Tori Hooten, the area manager overseeing delivery logistics, assured customers that with delivery zones within a 1-2 hour radius from Billings, packages would maintain a swift delivery time frame of three to five days. She noted, "Everyone so far is awesome. We have a great team."

In preparation for the busy season, Amazon is actively recruiting new employees and drivers to support operations at both distribution centers in Montana. Interested candidates can find job listings online. With strong community support and an efficient logistics plan, the opening of WMT3 signifies a commitment to faster service for the region.
