In this year’s Brawl of the Wild football game between No. 2 Montana State and No. 9 Montana, the Treasure State will be well-represented with 96 Montana natives playing in the game. This is an increase from 92 last year, with players from 30 communities across the state. The Grizzlies have 49 Montana natives on their roster, including standout players like Ryan Tirrell and Jace Klucewich. The Bobcats have 47 players from Montana, including defensive stalwarts like Grebe, O’Reilly, and Ortt. Bozeman and Missoula will provide the most players for the game, with 18 and 17 players respectively.
The game will feature players from different towns and high school football programs in Montana, with Melstone being the smallest town represented by players like Brody and Bryce Grebe. Notably, some players like Mason Dethman and Sloan McPherson played 6-Man football in high school, while others like Hunter Sharbono and Kade Cutler finished their high school careers playing 8-Man football. The game, which will be broadcast statewide, will kick off at noon on Saturday. It promises to be an exciting matchup with a strong representation of talented Montana players on both teams.
