The Montana Grizzlies are gearing up to host the Stew Morrill Classic in Missoula after playing three quad-one opponents on the road. The event, taking place from Sunday to Wednesday, will feature the Cal State Northridge Matadors, Denver Pioneers, and Utah Tech Trailblazers. Sophomore guard Money Williams has been a standout player for the Griz, leading the team in scoring and assists. Graduate student and transfer Joe Pridgen has also made an impact, excelling in rebounding and blocks.
The Matadors come into the tournament with a 3-1 record, led by high-scoring duo Scotty Washington and Keonte Jones. The Pioneers, with a 1-2 start to the season, have recently picked up wins over Colorado Christian and Montana State. Utah Tech, currently standing at 1-3, will also be competing in the tournament.
The Stew Morrill Classic will kick off with a matchup between Utah Tech and CSUN, followed by the Grizzlies facing Denver on Sunday. The tournament’s games will be broadcast on ESPN+. The event honors former UM head coach Stew Morrill, who guided the Griz to success in the past. The Grizzlies will look to make a statement on their home court in Missoula as they aim to improve their record and showcase their talent.
