Man from Boston arrested for assaulting transgender woman on a train

A transgender woman in Boston was violently attacked on a train by a man named Gregory Burnett. The victim reported being punched and kicked while Burnett shouted derogatory terms at her regarding her gender identity. She suffered a fractured wrist from the attack, believed to be motivated by her gender identity. District Attorney Kevin Hayden condemned the attack, stating that all individuals have the right to travel safely regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. The incident took place at Maverick Station in Cohasset, Massachusetts, when Burnett boarded the train and immediately began assaulting the woman. Other passengers intervened to help stop the attack. Burnett was identified through witness descriptions and surveillance video, leading to his arrest on charges of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and civil rights violation with injury. It is unclear whether he has legal representation. The attack underscores the importance of protecting marginalized communities and the need to address violence based on gender identity.
