Clooney emphasizes the privacy of the voting booth, stating “What happens in the booth stays in the booth.” Similarly, an ad narrated by Julia Roberts focuses on women’s right to choose, with a female voter confidently supporting Harris and reassuring her husband that she made the right choice.
The goal of these ads is to remind voters that they can break with their Republican friends and family members and vote for their preferred candidates. Doug Pagitt, an evangelical pastor and executive director of Vote Common Good, acknowledges the pressure that the MAGA movement puts on voters, but emphasizes the strength of Americans when they cast their votes.
Vote Common Good, launched in 2018, aims to provide a progressive alternative for evangelical Christians who traditionally support conservative candidates like Trump. These ads are part of the group’s efforts to encourage voters to consider different options and break from traditional party loyalties.
