Report on Trump Campaign Incident at Arlington Cemetery Released by Army

The U.S. Army released a redacted police report detailing an incident in August where a Trump campaign staffer allegedly pushed an Arlington National Cemetery worker. The report described it as a “simple assault” where the staffer tried to move past the worker, who was trying to stop them from taking photos. The worker did not require medical attention or want to press charges. The Army spokesperson mentioned that the investigation was ongoing and could not provide further information.

American Oversight, a government ethics group, sued to obtain the report, which was released after a judge’s order. Trump was at the cemetery for a ceremony honoring fallen service members when the incident occurred. The cemetery has restrictions on political campaigning and photography in certain areas.

The Trump campaign spokesperson denied the allegations, claiming there was no physical altercation and that the worker was blocking their team. Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly recently criticized Trump, calling him a fascist and claiming he praised Hitler. Trump denied making these remarks. The incident highlights ongoing scrutiny of Trump’s behavior towards the military, with previous reports suggesting he questioned the selflessness of fallen service members and expressed admiration for Hitler’s generals.
