A deadly tornado, spawned by Hurricane Milton, hit a retirement community in Florida, causing multiple fatalities and significant destruction. Four people died in St. Lucie County, including at least one at the Spanish Lakes Country Club Village, a neighborhood for residents aged 55 and older. The tornado struck before Hurricane Milton made landfall on the west coast of Florida, catching residents off guard as there were no evacuation orders for the area. The tornado caused levels of destruction not seen locally in decades, according to county spokesman Erick Gill. Search-and-rescue teams are working to find anyone trapped under rubble in the tornado-affected neighborhoods. St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson assured the community that they will continue their efforts until all potential survivors are accounted for. The tornado’s impact was unexpected, and the community is coming together to support those affected by the tragedy.
