Bear Aware Month is fast approaching, and communities in Philipsburg, Missoula, and Lolo are gearing up with events to educate the public on bear safety and conservation efforts.
In Philipsburg, a Bear Aware Month presentation will be held at the Granite County Museum on April 10th at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature speakers from the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks department, as well as local wildlife experts. Attendees will learn valuable tips on how to safely coexist with bears in their environment.
Missoula will also be hosting various events throughout the month, including a Bear Aware Day on April 17th at Fort Missoula from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include educational booths, hands-on activities, and presentations on bear behavior and safety. Additionally, residents can participate in a Bear Spray Training Workshop on April 29th at the Missoula Fish, Wildlife & Parks headquarters.
Meanwhile, Lolo will be holding a Bear Awareness Event on April 24th at Travelers’ Rest State Park from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature live demonstrations on how to properly use bear spray, as well as information on bear habits and how to prevent conflicts with them.
