Azov Brigade reports that previously ‘catastrophic’ situation in Niu-York has been stabilized

The Azov Brigade in Ukraine has declared that it has stabilized the situation in the town of Niu-York in Donetsk Oblast, successfully retaking part of the settlement from Russian forces. Despite claims by Moscow that all of Niu-York has been captured, the Azov Brigade asserted that Ukrainian forces continue to hold their positions in the region.

The brigade described the situation in Niu-York as “catastrophic” before their intervention, but through their efforts, they were able to regain control of part of the town and unblock Ukrainian Defense Forces that were surrounded by enemy troops. Despite ongoing ground assaults by Russian troops, the Azov Brigade remains committed to defending the region.

In addition to the conflict in Niu-York, a Russian airstrike on civilian infrastructure in Pavlohrad resulted in one fatality and numerous injuries, including children. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been advocating for the use of long-range weapons from US and European partners to push back against Russian forces.

The State Emergency Service also reported that Russian shelling sparked a wildfire in a settlement in the Sumy region, threatening nearby forests and residential buildings. Firefighters were forced to take cover multiple times while extinguishing the blaze. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine continues to escalate, with both sides engaging in violent confrontations across the country.
