A missile strike on a civilian infrastructure building in Kryvyi Rih, central Ukraine, resulted in the death of at least two people, with the building completely destroyed, officials confirmed. The attack was part of a series of Russian bombardments, with hundreds of drones and missiles fired at Ukraine on Monday, killing at least seven people and causing extensive damage to the energy grid. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called for increased air defence support from western allies and the lifting of restrictions on using western weapons to strike deep into Russian territory in response to the attacks.
Ukraine’s air defence systems were activated to repel further bombardments, with reports of explosions in Kyiv early on Tuesday morning. President Zelenskiy urged the US, Britain, France, and other partners to take decisive action to help Ukraine stop the terror being inflicted by Russia. The Ukrainian air force commander stated that Russia launched 127 missiles at Ukraine on Monday, while Prime Minister Shmyhal reported that 15 regions sustained damage during the strikes.
The attacks extended beyond Ukraine’s borders, with Poland reporting a violation of its airspace by a Russian drone during the barrage against Ukraine. Joe Biden condemned Russia’s actions as “outrageous,” while Russia claimed to have struck Ukrainian forces at multiple locations in western Russia. Geneva conventions were violated by an attack on a hydropower plant in Kyiv, prompting condemnation from the US president and the pursuit of the culprits by the Polish armed forces. The situation remains tense as both sides continue their military operations.
