Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivered a scathing criticism of former President Donald Trump at the Democratic convention, accusing him of making lowbrow attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris. Clinton stated that Trump will never understand the motto “Kamala Harris for the people” that guides Harris. She also mentioned Trump’s attacks on Harris’ name and laugh, noting that it sounds familiar.
Clinton expressed confidence that Democrats have Trump “on the run” following his attacks on Harris. Other speakers at the convention included Georgia senator Raphael Warnock, who called Trump “a plague on the American conscience,” and Kentucky governor Andy Beshear, who emphasized abortion rights and women’s rights in his speech.
The convention also featured speakers from red states, including a married couple and two women who shared their experiences with abortion restrictions. Maryland congressman Jamie Raskin attacked Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, calling him Trump’s “pet chameleon” and criticizing his involvement in the January 6 insurrection.
Progressive congresswoman Jasmine Crockett spoke about Harris’ record as a prosecutor, highlighting her efforts to implement body cams for officers and programs to reduce recidivism. The convention also featured appearances from actor Tony Goldwyn and Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.
Overall, the Democratic convention highlighted key issues such as abortion rights, criminal justice reform, and the importance of defeating Trump in the upcoming election. Clinton urged supporters to stay focused and work hard to beat back the threats posed by Trump and his allies.
