Over 325 Team GB athletes are currently in Paris representing the United Kingdom in the 2024 Olympics, but their presence is not only inspiring the next generation of athletes but also making waves in the fashion industry. Celebrities and social media stars have been seen wearing Union Jack-inspired clothing in support of Team GB. Singer Doja Cat performed at Wireless festival wearing a Union Jack corset, while Rachel Chinouriri sported a similar Union Jack-inspired denim top and mini skirt at Glastonbury. TikTok star Rachel also styled a pair of Union Jack skinny jeans. The renewed interest in Union Jack fashion has led to high street brands like Urban Outfitters, ASOS, and GAP selling Union Jack-inspired clothing. The iconic Union Jack dress famously worn by Geri Halliwell at the 1997 Brit Awards has also made a comeback, with artists like Dua Lipa paying homage to it at the 2021 BRITs. In an interview, Halliwell explained how she wanted to add a British touch to her outfit and even faced controversy over the dress potentially being associated with The National Front, leading her to add a peace sign for inclusivity. The dress became a symbol of girl power and has been recreated several times since its debut.
