Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has announced an extension of river closures on the Blackfoot River due to power lines in the water following a recent storm. The closure now includes the upper Blackfoot River from River Junction Fishing Access Site to Russell Gates Memorial FAS. Along with this closure, the Clark Fork River remains closed from Milltown State Park to Petty Creek Fishing Access Site, and the Bitterroot River is still closed from Chief Looking Glass FAS to the confluence with the Clark Fork River.
These closures, which began on July 25, will continue until the danger from the power lines in the water is eliminated. Recreationists are advised to exercise caution in storm-impacted areas and seek alternative locations for outdoor activities if possible. There may be power lines on roadways and waterways that have not been identified yet, along with other debris like downed trees that could pose safety risks in the water.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is urging the public to stay informed about the closures and to prioritize safety when venturing out into affected areas. The extension of these closures is necessary to ensure the well-being of individuals participating in recreational activities on the rivers in the wake of the storm. Stay updated on the latest developments and exercise caution when navigating these waterways.
